Are You Eligible For Asylum?

There are two different ways to obtain asylum in America.

  • Affirmative asylum — If you are physically in the U.S., you can make an application for asylum status regardless of how you got here or what your current immigration status is. You can apply, for example, even if you came into the U.S. on a valid visa.
  • Defensive asylum — If you are already in deportation (removal) proceedings, you can apply for defensive asylum seeking to stop those proceedings. To be eligible, you will have to show a credible fear of fear of harm if you were returned to your home country.

Where Are You From?

Our law firm has a proven track record of success in both affirmative and defensive asylum cases.

We have assisted individuals from more than 120 countries, including Turkey, Venezuela, Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya and Jordan. We've been doing these since the 1980s and 90s, when we helped nearly 900 people from Mauritania apply for U.S. asylum.

Our attorneys will listen carefully to your story and help you identify the best way to proceed in seeking asylum in the U.S.
